  • Glossary of Criminal Justice terms
  • Evaluating web resources.
Unlike ``scholarly'' books and journals, web documents usually have no editor or editorial process bettween the author and you to assure high standards. Some sites are excellent and provide accurate and balanced material, some sites are inaccurate, selective and cynically slanted (biased).
Brittany Goodman, MSU librarian, makes some excellent suggestions in this document about winnowing out the chaff.
  • Useful web resources.
Links to many sources of CJ information.
  • Topical documents.
Selection of materials about interesting and important issues.
Includes: Impeachment background, Starr report, Clinton submission to the Judiciary Committee (12-8-98), Ted Kaczynski, Louise Woodward court order, Commentary on Dr. Slepian murder.
Career resources.

Career Services is the best source for career and internship information on campus. Students interested in law enforcement work in Minnesota should check with the Minnesota Peace Officer Standards and Training board (POST), which lists available Mn. openings. Similarly, students interested in corrections positions should check with the Minnesota Department of Corrections, which also lists many available openings.

Registration with Dragon Careers guarantees access to the best on campus information about jobs and internships. Registration will require a current resume, but is otherwise completely painless. Since all graduates will need a resume, it is a good idea to start one early.

Advisors can provide general information about your field of interest and sometimes know about open or opening positions.
Criminal Justice Association Criminal Justice Association
The MSU Student organization for CJ majors. Provides a forum for students to discuss issues, to organize field trips, to learn about careers, internships, etc.
