General resource for anyone trying to narrow their search to occupational fields. Visit the site. (You can find any state's employment service linked from this site. MN is pulled out explicitly below.) Sam Houston State University has apparently reorganized its site and this page is no longer available. After advising week and the round of meetings in early April, I will find another site that permits a national search for employment for MSU CJ majors. (MVH 3-26-1999)
The Deputy Sheriff position is open for applications until October 27. This posting will include any candidates who will take the POST exam by March 31, 2003.

To learn if there are current openings, contact:
The Minnesota Correctional Facilites are short staffed and hiring. See their web page for details of current openings. The Rush City facility is scheduled to open about the first of 2000 and is not fully staffed.
The web site has a tab for jobs on the main page. Every time I have visited this page, there have been 10-20 open positions ranging from "groundskeeper" to positions requiring advanced degrees. Usually there are a few appropriate to CJ majors who want the security and benefits the State of Minnesota offers.

There are two options for testing. Read this over carefully.
For many students, it is better not to take the test and to
build up a lot of volunteer and internship experience.
